Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, engaged in an increasingly competitive campaign against Barack Obama, unveiled her Montana steering committee Wednesday.
Clinton's announcement came a day before Obama was scheduled to announce some Montana elected officials who are endorsing him.
Sen. Clinton's list contained American Indian lawmakers Carol Juneau and Shannon Augare, along with Senate Majority Leader Carol Williams of Missoula, Dan Harrington, Montana Senate president pro tempore from Butte, and others.
''I am proud to be an American Indian woman who is helping to elect the first woman president of this United States,'' Juneau said in a statement. ''That is the type of change I want.''
Former president Clinton met with American Indian leaders when he campaigned in Montana last week.
Williams has been an enthusiastic Clinton supporter, and helped arrange a fundraiser for the New York senator held in Missoula on Sunday.
Both Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigned over the weekend in the state. Sen. Obama's campaign has announced offices in five Montana cities, while the Clinton campaign said announcements on offices and full-time staff in the state are coming.
Others on Clinton's committee of 27 includes former gubernatorial candidate Dorothy Bradley, university Regent Janine Pease, along with lawmakers and Democratic Party activists.
Obama has scored key support from three of Montana's eight superdelegates, party insiders who can vote for whoever they like at the summer nominating convention. A fourth, native American lawmaker Margarett Campbell, was forced Monday to retract her short-lived endorsement of Obama because as party vice chair she is banned from endorsing in contested primaries until after June 3.
Clinton so far has not received an endorsement from a Montana superdelegate.
Montana's June 3 primary will apportion 17 regular delegates among the candidates.
