U-11 Arsenal Royal Predators win 1 lose 1

The U-11 Arsenal Boys Royal Predators soccer team played matches against two squads from Stevensville May 31.

The first match was tied 3-3 at halftime, with Will Hunthausen (2) and Jeremy Reynolds notching goals for the Arsenal.

Goalie Tobin Haefele, with Luke Ballantyne and Drew Vaughan on defense, allowed few scoring opportunities for Stevensville in the first half, as they managed only four shots. Stevensville pulled away in the second half to win 7-4, with Hunthausen tallying the additional goal for Arsenal.

The Predators scored four times in the first half and three times in the second half to defeat the Sabres 7-2 in their second game.

Hunthausen and Colin Patterson each scored three times. Eli Walker played a solid game at goalkeeper, while Ballantyne, Haefele, Reynolds, Aidan Cormier, Lucas Kreamer, Andrew Dowling and Connor Whyte shut down the Stevensville offense and moved the ball efficiently through the midfield to support the Arsenal attack.

U-11 Arsenal Girls Team Hedstrom split games

The Helena U-11 Arsenal Girls (Team Hedstrom) came out with a win and a loss in Bozeman this weekend.

The strong defense of Corey Hedstrom, Jordan Erb, Timberly Tierney and Hannah Hass kept the Bozeman Blitz from getting close to the goal. Goalie Maddie Siebenaler prevented the Blitz from scoring and helped the Arsenal girls take home a 3-1 win.

The game against Missoula Strikers was a tough match up. Kelsey Kerker, Izzy Clinch, Grace Kurtz, Teah Falconer and Courtney Carter helped bring the team back in the second half. The Arsenal girls played hard, but fell to Missoula 3-2.

Carroll College basketball camp filling up

The Fighting Saints basketball camps are filling up fast. The week-one camp being held June 16-20 is completely full.

There are still spaces available for the week-two camp being held June 23-27.

Clancy woman wins Old Works golf tourney

Lindsey Erickson of Clancy won the Old Works Amateur Golf women's championship in Anaconda last weekend.

Erickson, a former Helena High standout, carded rounds of 88 and 87 for an 18-hole score of 175 to earn the Old Works low gross title.

The popular Anaconda tournament was played under extremely adverse conditions, with a high wind on Saturday and rain on Sunday morning.
