Duran Junior Caferro from the H-Town Eagles Boxing Club defeated Antone Slaughter from Ohio in the first round of the National Golden Gloves in Michigan on Tuesday.

After a competitive first round, Caferro switched to southpaw and scored with a left cross that hurt Slaughter. From that point on Caferro controlled the action and won a decision.

He will next fight Shamal Phagon from New York. Caferro lost to Phagon the last time they fought at the Olympic trials in August.
