Carroll College competes at Distance Relays

The Carroll College cross country team competed at the 2009 University of Great Falls Distance Relays on Saturday at Memorial Stadium (Great Falls High). Rocky Mountain College also brought its cross country team and the University of Great Falls had its track teams participating.

Carroll freshmen Zach Depledge and Ryan Utsey competed in the steeple chase, the first time any Carroll athlete has ever done the event.

Carroll sophomore Taylor Gregory competed in the 1500-meter race, his first competition since NAIA cross country nationals last November. Gregory took a break from training through January to recover from a hernia operation.

This was the first competition for the Saints since November.

"We've only been able to get on the track a couple of times this spring and are a bit rusty, but I'm happy with how they did," said Saints head coach Bill Ballinger. "We are planning on taking a handfull of our athletes to some more meets this spring."

Results are listed in the agate to the right.
