BILLINGS -- Former Rocky Mountain College football coach David Reeves has been named the safeties and special teams coach at Northern Arizona.
NAU coach Jerome Souers announced the hiring Thursday.
Souers says Reeves brings Big Sky Conference experience as a player and coach.
Reeves was an assistant coach at the University of Montana and Utah State before coming to Rocky, an NAIA school in Billings. The Bears posted a 12-43 record over the past five seasons, with eight of those wins coming in the past two years.
Reeves played strong safety at the University of Montana when Souers was the defensive coordinator. He was a linebacker coach for the Griz and was a member of the coaching staff when Montana won the NCAA Division I-AA national championship in 1995. He then served as assistant head coach and linebacker coach at Utah State under Mick Dennehy.
