Carrie Myers, a 2008 graduate of Townsend High, is a member of the George Fox University national championship basketball team.
The George Fox Bruins defeated Washington University-St.Louis, 60-53 in the NCAA Division III women's finals, in Holland, Mich. George Fox U., which is located in Newburg, Ore., completed an undefeated 32-0 season.
Myers, a 5-foot-11 freshman, came off the bench to play in 28 games for the Bruins this year. She averaged 2.7 points and 3.0 rebounds, with 12 steals. At Townsend, Myers was selected to the Treasure State All-Star classic her senior year. She was also an all-state volleyball player and a state track champion in the 400-meter run.
