Western Montana football signs seven

DILLON -- The Montana Western football team has signed seven student-athletes, including five transfers, coach Rich Ferris announced.

Defensive tackle Bob Anderson of Great Falls is transferring to Western from Carroll College. He is a 2004 graduate of Great Falls High, where he had 110 tackles and 19 quarterback sacks in his career.

Linebacker Cody Darrington of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, is transferring to Western from Boise State, where he was a walk-on. In high school, Darrington recorded 335 tackles, five quarterback sacks and three interceptions. He was named his team's MVP.

William Ellis, an offensive lineman from Sparks, Nev., transfers to Western from Feather River College. He earned all-conference honors at Reed High School.

Quarterback Garrett Graves of Missoula transfers from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. He earned all-state honors at Missoula Sentinel as a junior and senior.

Quarterback Austin Laing of Buhl, Idaho, graduated from high school in 2007. He earned all-state honors and was named the offensive MVP of Idaho's Shrine game last summer.

Defensive lineman Ryan Mathews is from Pocatello, Idaho, where he graduated from Highland High School in 2005. In his high school career he recorded 203 tackles and 14 quarterback sacks.

Reed Watkins, a wide receiver from Kalispell, is transferring from Morningside College of Sioux City, Iowa. He earned all-state honors and was selected to play in the Shrine and Mon-Dak all-star games after graduating from Flathead High in 2007.
