Carroll College head football coach Mike Van Diest announced the signing of five highly touted student athletes from across the region.

Galen Mills and Danie Long from Wyoming, Nick Cameron from California, Glade Hall from Washington, and Dakota Stonehouse from Colorado signed with the Saints, according to a press release on Wednesday.

"I am very excited about the signing of these five players," said Van Diest. "They all are outstanding athletes who have excelled in other sports as well."

Mills is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound free safety from Powell High School in Powell, Wyoming. The team captain and MVP on offense was a first-team all-state player and helped lead the Panthers to a state championship his sophomore year. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and has been academic All-State with a 4.0 GPA.

He was also named to the Casper Star Tribune Super 25 Football Team his junior and senior years and helped his team win a state championship in 2005. In 2008, he had 1,295 yards oftotal offense with 10 touchdowns and has over 3,000 yards rushing in his career.

"Galen and Dan are two of the top athletes in the state of Wyoming," said Van Diest. "They will be great players on defense for us."

Cameron, a 5-11, 185-pound defensive back from Notre Dame High School, Sherman Oaks, California is a two-year letter winner in football and track. This past season, he led his team to an 11-1 record while reaching the Quarter Finals of the CIF Championship. Nick was one of the senior captains on defense and started all 12 games this past season. He competed in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, as well as the 400-meter relay.

"Nick played and started on one of the top high school programs in Southern California," said Van Diest. "Nick played against some of the best wide receivers in the country week in and week out. He brings the size and speed at corner that we want."

Hall, a 6-2, 260-pound center from Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, Washington was an All-League Center in 2007, 2008. He was named the Everett Herald All-Area First Team center in 2008 as well as being named first team all-state by the Associated Press his senior year. As a three-year starter, his team posted a 33-2 record making it to the state semifinals in 2008.

"I was impressed with Glade's film on offense," said Van Diest. "We feel that he fits the mold of Jason Gilliam, Kyle Baker, and Andy Fjeseth who have been great centers here at Carroll."

Stonehouse, a 6-1, 180-pound quarterback from Glenwood Springs High School in Glenwood Springs, Colo, was a 3A first team all-state member in 2007 and 2008. He was named the Colorado 3A "Player of the Year" in 2008 and was selected to the Colorado All-State team last fall. He led his team to an undefeated season and the Colorado 3A state championship in 2008.

Last spring he finished 3rd at state in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 39.25 which is a school record. He was named his team's captain in football, basketball and track.

For his career he passed for 7,163 yards and 75 touchdowns and rushed for 2,246 yards and 44 touchdowns. He has a 3.9 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.

"Dakota Stonehouse is one of the top recruits out of Colorado," said Van Diest. "His numbers are awesome and being one of the top hurdlers in the state is equally impressive. To sign these quality student athletes is a great testament to our assistant coaches and the faculty and staff at Carroll who made a great impression on these young men," Van Diest added.
