The East Valley Middle School seventh grade boys basketball teams went 2-0 and won the Montana City Tournament Saturday in Montana City.
East Valley beat Clancy and Montana City for the championship.
In the championship game, Josh Hunsaker scored 16 points and Nick Amestoy had 14 points and five rebounds in a 55-33 win. The team finished with 24 steals, 11 by Troy Arntson. Arntson and Waylon Ellermeyer had five rebounds each.
The Tigers, coached by Ty Ridgeway, improved to
10-1 on the season.
Elite roll at Helena Round Robin tourney
The Helena Elite seventh grade girls basketball team went undefeated this past Saturday winning all three games in the Helena Round Robin Tournament.
The Elite beat the Rocky Mountain Flames 19-14, the Lolo Lightning 36-17 and the Great Falls Electric Shock Blue 44-29.
The Elite were led offensively by Jessica Stockton, Jessica Pickens and Jaden Rogne.
Elly Priddy, Bailey Kops and Tyler Holland paced the Elite defensively. Riley Warren and Sydne Jacoby were the leading rebounders.
The Elite play in Missoula Dec. 6. The team is coached by head coach Mike Pickens and assistant coach Wayne Stockton.
Caferro tops Garcia in unanimous decision
H-Town Eagles' Duran Junior Caferro improved his record to 138 wins and 40 losses after he defeated Miguel Garcia last Saturday in Seattle.
Caferro, fighting at 141 pounds, used a punishing body attack to score a unanimous decision over Garcia.
Caferro will be the feature fight in Helena Dec. 13 at the Fairgrounds Exhibition Building.
Caferro will take on Oregon's Frank Patka in a five round fight.
Fights begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Eagles Lodge at 801 Fee St. Advance ticket prices will be $20 for ringside seats and $10 for general admission. Tickets at the door will be $25 for ringside seats and $15 for general admission.
