Miles CC baseball signs Helena's Day

MILES CITY (AP) -- Miles Community College baseball coach Rob Bishop has announced the signing of Hunter Day of Helena.

Day is a right-handed pitcher for the Helena Senators.

Day was undefeated in five starts with an earned run average of 3.34 in 35 innings pitched through mid-June.

Dave Gallik, Brewers to offer free tickets

Attorney Dave Gallik and the Helena Brewers invite all children 18 and under to attend all Helena Brewers Sunday home games this summer for free.

In partnership with Helena Food Share and Rocky Mountain Development Council's Feed 'N Fun Program, Dave Gallik, Helena Brewers stars, and General Manager Paul Fetz will be at local parks this summer handing out vouchers to kids for free tickets to all four Brewers' Sunday home games this season.

On Wednesday, July 8, noon, at Sherron Park and Thursday, July 30, noon, at Memorial Park, children can pick up their free ticket to any Sunday home game and meet Helena Brewers players. Vouchers will be good for one free children's admission to Sunday home games on July 12, August 2, August 16, and September 6. All Sunday home games begin at 4:05 p.m.

2 Cobra wrestlers compete in Idaho

Two local Cobra grapplers trained and wrestled with the Montana State Junior Dual Team that wrestled in the West Junior Duals in Pocatello, Idaho recently. Teams from six states competed in the event. Jade Rauser won all ten of his bouts at the 112-pound weight class--five Freestyle and five Greco Roman matches. Britton Thompson bumped up from his actual age group of Cadet to the Junior 152-pound division to wrestle for Team Montana. Thompson finished the event with an 8-2 record. The Utah State Dual team won the team award in both Greco Roman and Freestyle.

Cobra wrestlers win at 11 West Regionals

Nineteen wrestlers from the USA Cobra Montana program wrestled at the 11-State USA Wrestling Kids and Cadets West Regionals in Pocatello, Idaho recently. A total of 3,745 entrants competed in what has become the second largest age group wrestling tournament in the country. The Cobras combined for seven regional titles and earned a total of 24 medals at the tournament.

Cadet Britton Thompson won regional titles in Freestyle, Greco Roman and Folkstyle in the 152-pound weight class. Schoolboy Cameron Alverson won titles in Freestyle and Greco Roman and finished as runner-up in Folkstyle in the 91-pound class. Schoolboy Grant Boggs won the Freestyle and Greco Roman events and did not compete in Folkstyle.
