The Townsend girls left the Manhattan Christian volleyball tournament with the best record of the 15 Class B and C teams competing on Saturday.
The Bulldogs swept through their four early round matchups (each team played the other in a single set), and went 3-1 in three-set matches in the afternoon.
Jefferson High's team wasn't so successful, picking up one win in the second round of play.
Townsend used the nonconference opportunity to work on their skills and face off with Manhattan Christian one more time.
The Bulldogs and Eagles were seeded first and second, respectively, and have met up in the championship of two earlier tournaments, as well as a regular season game. Townsend is 4-0 against Manhattan Christian in those face offs.
They won Saturday's match 16-14, 11-15, 15-12.
"They were pretty fun games to watch because they run a lot of quick schemes and so do we," said Townsend head coach Jill Flynn. "We had eight blocks and 40 digs, so we played good defense against them."
The Bulldogs also beat Three Forks and Red Lodge in the afternoon, while their lone loss on the day came to Choteau 19-17, 17-15.
Flynn said the loss was as much of a learning experience as the wins.
