Carroll men fifth at own invitational
The host Carroll College men's golf team wrapped up a fifth-place finish Tuesday at Green Meadow Country Club in the Carroll College Invitational.
The Saints shot a collective 926. Carroll didn't field a full women's team.
John Nielsen shot the Saints' best score, a 69 in the second round.

Dillard's hosts Carroll tailgate party
Dillard's will host a Carroll College tailgate party at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the store's east entrance. Players from all three fall sports programs will be on hand to sign posters. Hot dogs and Pepsi will be provided.
MSU's Swaggert joins 49ers' practice squad
Brent Swaggert, a 2003 First Team All Big Sky Conference and Third Team AP All America Left Tackle from Montana State, has rejoined the San Francisco 49ers as a member of its practice squad after being cut from the 49ers three weeks ago prior to the start of the NFL regular season. Swaggert is represented by NFL Player Agents Tom White and Bob Huebner.
Lynch boots nine points for Dakota St.
Mitch Lynch, a kicker for Dakota State University at Madison, S.D., kicked 24- and 32-yard field goals Saturday in a game against Black Hills State in Spearfish S.D. He also was 3-for-3 on point-after attempts in Dakota State's 27-17 win. He was named special team player of the week. Lynch was a four-year soccer player at Capital High.
Chaet honored by Utah State
Helena High graduate Ben Chaet was honored by Utah State University for his kicking performance in Saturday's football game against the University of Utah.
Chaet ranks 16th nationally with a punting average of 44.1 yards per kick. He's dropped seven of his 17 punts inside the 20-yard line. Against No. 15 Utah, he had five punts averaging 41.4 yards and had a 49-yarder. He knocked two punts within the 20-yard lne.
In the Aggies' opener against Alabama, he had a career-long 44-yard field goal and averaged 43.4 yards on seven punts. He had 61- and 60-yard punts this season against the University of Idaho.
Former UM star Deming heads to Greece
MISSOULA (AP) -- Former Montana basketball standout Julie Deming plans to play professionally in Greece.
Deming said she will play for Panserraikos, a club team in Serres, a city of 80,000 in northern Greece. Panserraikos competes in the A1 league, the highest professional division of the Hellenic Basketball Federation.
Team managers expect Deming to be in Greece at the end of September. Her contract runs through April and includes housing and air fare.
The 5-foot-10 forward from Portland, Ore., was an all-Big Sky Conference selection as a Montana senior for the 2003-04 season, helping lead the Lady Griz to a 27-5 record and the conference championship, and an NCAA tournament berth.
