A national motorcycle enduro race made its Montana debut Sunday near Cascade, bringing more than 250 riders from 28 states and two Canadian provinces.

The Rock Pile Enduro at the Bull Run Guest Ranch was stop No. 7 on the American Motorcycle Association Enduro Championship Series.

The event marks the first AMA national enduro event ever held in Montana.

One of the unique aspects of the enduro series is that it uses only existing trails. In the case of the Rock Pile Enduro, the course is about 40 miles of existing trail on the Bull Run Ranch property, about 35 miles from Great Falls. The race featured rocky terrain and elevations ranging from 3,400 feet to about 6,000 feet.

Several of the top professional riders in the US, including Russell Bobbitt, Mike Lafferty, Jason Raines, Nick Fahringer, Cole Kirkpatrick and Brad Bakken took part in the race.

Lafferty placed first in the pro class, finishing in 20 minutes, 46 seconds. Jordan Brandt was second with a time of 21:03.

Bill Hamilton from Lolo won the overall A division in the event.
