HONOLULU -- Jayne Appel scored eight consecutive points in overtime to lift No. 5 Stanford to a 78-70 victory over No. 19 Purdue on Friday in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic.
Appel overcame a rough start and finished with 26 points and 16 rebounds and Nnemkadi Ogwumike added 17 points and six rebounds for Stanford (4-1).
Appel, just 2-of-11 in the first half, scored six straight to tie it at 63 in regulation, and freshman Kayla Pedersen's layin gave Stanford a 65-63 lead.
