She was received the Crusaders' Bobbi Halle Outstanding Softball Player award for the second time, in addition to being a three-time all-GNAC selection (honorable mention in 2006, first team in 2007 and second team in 2009). Shaw amassed 41 lifetime doubles and 17 career homers, with her doubles total ranking fourth all-time in GNAC conference history. She owns the NNU school season records of 15 doubles and eight homers, as well.
Shaw finished her career with a .970 fielding percentage at second and third base for the Crusaders. She was also named to the Academic All-Conference team for the third time.
Shaw was a four-year letterman at Capital High, and was the starting second baseman on the Bruins' 2004 state championship and 2005 state runnerup teams.
She graduated NNU Cum Laude with degrees in Accounting and Business Management with a 3.65 GPA. She spends her summers as an assistant coach for the MWC 14-U Orange Crush of the Helena ASA League. Vanessa, who is the daughter of Shane and Cynthia Shaw, has been accepted to Montana State University graduate school, where she will continue her education this fall.
