BUTTE -- Preseason records do not really help a team in the regular season, but starting out the season 13-0 is giving the Carroll College Saints a bit of confidence.

The Saints defeated Dickinson State University from Dickinson, N.D., 76-57 Sunday in the final day of the Peggy Sarsfield Basketball Classic held at the Montana Tech HPER.

Carroll defeated Doane College Friday and made short work of Grand View College Saturday in the classic.

The Dickinson Hawks held the lead once, capitalizing quickly from the tip-off. Dana Johnson got a quick pass from Elise Doughter and nailed the three-pointer for the 3-0 lead.

The lead was short lived.

On the next play, Carroll's Caitlin Courchaine tossed in the three to tie it at 3-all.

Carroll then dominated much of the first half, building a 15-point lead at 37-22. A shift of momentum led by the Hawks' Johnson cut the lead by 10, allowing Dickenson to head into the break trailing by only five, 40-35.

The star of the second half would have to be Laci High for the Saints who scored 12 of her 15 points after the intermission.

The Saints went to the line and connected on 12 of 14 shots down the stretch to ice the game.

Sophi Forney had a team high 18 points for the Saints, followed by High with 15.
