Arsenal U-12 boys Blue drop final 3 games

The Helena Arsenal U-12 boys Blue soccer team concluded their 2009 season at the Montana Division II Showcase Tournament in Kalispell on June 20-21. The Renegades showed great competitiveness over the weekend, ending up on the short side of the score line against Electric City Silver (7-2), Electric City Royal (4-2) and Missoula Strikers Black (5-2).

Goals for the Arsenal were tallied by Jeremy Reynolds (2), Aidan Cormier (2), Will Hunthausen and Eli Walker. Cormier scored the final goal of the year on a direct kick over the Missoula wall and into the top corner of the net. Goalkeepers for the U-12 Blue included Logan Davis, Drew Vaughan, Dillon Monday, Connor Whyte, Walker, and Denis Karasev. Cole Peterson, Lucas Kreamer, and Andrew Dowling played tough on both offense and defense to add to the Arsenal effort.

Grevas, Daly excel in Arena2 football

Former local gridders Alex Grevas and Bobby Daly continue to excel for the Central Valley (Fresno) Coyotes of the Arena2 Indoor Football League. Last Saturday in Fresno, in a 55-19 loss to the Boise Burn, Grevas started at wide receiver and caught nine passes for 86 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown. The TD, which is his third in four games, came on an over-the-shoulder fade route in the corner of the end zone.

Grevas played for Helena High and Montana Tech.

Daly, who prepped at Capital High before earning All-American status with Montana State, was in on six tackles from his middle linebacker position.

He also forced and recovered a fumble, returning it 20 yards to the four-yard line before being brought down by two players. Daly has started all four games he's played for the Coyotes.
