Helena's Erickson second at Missoula's PRCA

MISSOULA -- Chase Erickson of Helena placed second in the bareback riding at the Missoula Stampede PRCA Rodeo this weekend at Alltel Arena. Erickson rode a horse called Firecracker for a score of 86 points, collecting a check for $1,704 for his efforts.

Kaycee Feild of Elk Ridge, Utah, won the bareback with a ride of 89.

Three Montanans captured titles at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. Dustin Jenkins of Missoula in the bull riding, Arlee's Rachael Myllymaki in the barrel racing, and steer wrestler Will Stovall of Roberts.

Other local area contestants placing high were Helena's Chase Tryan, who, along with partner Cody Tew (Harlowton), tied for fourth in the team roping, with a time of 5.2 seconds. Tryan pocketed $1,881. Ross Mosher of Augusta took fourth in the steer wrestling, at 4.2 seconds, earning $1,407. Barrel racer Lindsay Knaff of Winston came in sixth. She rounded the cloverleaf in 17.96, for a $749 payday.
