Carroll College golf team signs three more

Carroll College golf coach Bennett MacIntyre has announced the signing of three in-state recruits.

Sarah Cunningham of Kalispell and Chelsie Moquist of Anaconda are joining the women's team while Nick Shull of Missoula is joining the men's team.

Cunningham was the player of the year for Flathead High this past fall. Moquist is an all-state golfer, team captain and lettered all four years.

Shull, who recently graduated from Missoula Sentinel, placed fourth at the Montana State Junior Open in 2008.

Reps drop doubleheader on road with Cards

The Helena Reps ran into a road block against the Billings Cardinals, dropping both games of their nonconference doubleheader Wednesday 8-3 and 11-4.

Reps head coach Brian Wieck said his club struggled to make the outs in both games, giving the game up on defense.

"They didn't hit the ball in the infield, we just threw it around and walked them," he said. "We've given up 25 free bases in the last four games and when you do that you don't win ball games."

Wieck said James Mayer led the squad at the plate in the first game, getting a double, while Lee Mueller had a couple of hits and played well to lead the squad in the second game.

The Reps are now 2-5 against Billings teams and fall to 36-20 on the season with 14 games left. They are 5-3 in conference.

"If we win a couple of games against Gallatin Valley, then we have a shot at going (into the district tournament) at No. 1," Wieck said.
