H-Town Eagles pick up recent wins in Billings

The H-Town Eagles Boxing Club had a very successful trip to Billings this past Saturday, winning nine of 10 fights. Picking up wins were 9-year-olds Jory Songer and Justin Songer; 11-year-old Cody Woslager; 13-year-olds Casey Woslager, Audumn Smith and Jazman Hunter; 14-year-old Ryan Maier; 15-year-old Jayme Rupp and 16-year-old Nikita McKitrick.

Duran Junior Caferro will compete next week in the National Golden Gloves Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. Caferro will be competing in the 132-pound division.

Arsenal U-11 Gold drop two at Stevensville

Helena Arsenal Gold U-11 boys traveled to Stevensville for two games Saturday. Under initially blue skies, the boys got down early 5-1, then roared back with three goals in the last four minutes to close to 5-4. Scoring goals were Trent Treadway and Colin Patterson, while Brad Haller had multiple saves.

In Game 2 with the Stevensville Sabres the teams tied at the half 2-2. The Sabres dominated the second half for a final score of 5-2.

Tanner Bailey scored on a breakaway, and Patterson scored on a penalty kick. Haller made saves in the first half while Al Ibsen had several in the second. Nick White, Christian Hayes and Brock Beason played vigorous defense, and Jacob Ballinger, Joshua Noem and Andrew McLain all pressed the defense from midfield. Laurie Noem served as manager.

Arsenal U-15 boys lose championship in Idaho

The Helena Arsenal U-15 boys made it to the championship in Pocatello, Idaho, when playing in the PVSC Portneuf Valley Spring Classic.

In their first match, Arsenal played BNSC from Eagle, Idaho, and left the game without a score but quickly rebounded and beat Ballistic from Idaho Falls. George scored off a header on a corner kick by Caleb Sparks. Brian Sandvig then scored on a penalty kick to bring the score to 2-0 at half time. Sean Rudolf crossed the ball to Matt West-Reed to end the game 3-1 in Arsenal's favor.

In their next game with the Blacksnakes, Arsenal's Cody Jones scored the first and second goal with an assist by Dylan Allen on the second goal. The third goal was scored by Isaac Miller on an assist from Sparks. Allen scored the fourth goal with teamwork assistance from Spencer Severin and Ben George and the fifth goal was scored by Cody Jones on an assist from Caleb Sparks. Ben George scored the sixth goal ending the game in a 6-4 win.

Helena lost the championship 3-1. Jones scored the first goal of the game with an end score of 3-1. Jacob Silberling was in net; Sandvig, Rudolf and Andy Anderson played strong defense, with multi-position players Mac Nelson, Jacob Kreamer and Dylan Hills playing terrific in defense, mid, and offense.

Arsenal U-14 girls beat Bozeman Blitz

The Helena Arsenal U-14 girls (Lockwood) hosted the Bozeman Blitz on Saturday and played to a 3-1 victory. Savannah Smith gave Arsenal the lead midway through the first half scoring on a precisely placed free kick in the top of the goal. Bozeman answered with a goal of their own late in the first half, knotting the game at halftime 1-1.

Arsenal came out in the second half and dominated play, maintaining constant pressure on Bozeman's defensive third of the field throughout the period. Jenny Waddell scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Jesse Darlington. Waddell created a second score when she challenged the Bozeman keeper for a free ball in front of the goal, forcing a Bozeman defender to attempt a save at the goal line that resulted in an own goal.

Arsenal recorded 17 shots on goal throughout the match with solid team play from Terah Cundith, Kelsey Wadsworth, Mariah Garza, Jaimee Hulst, Haley Stalnaker, Halstyn Stief and Jordan Cummings. On the defensive end of the pitch, Arsenal defenders were able to shut down the Bozeman attack led by Ashlin Deaton, Carly Damuth, Bradie Austin, Shelby Pugh, Cassidy Wong, Kyra Dorvall and Quinci Robertson.

Arsenal is 2-3-0 on the season and will travel to Billings next weekend for the Stockman Bank Magic City Classic Tournament.
