Helena tennis team heads to Salt Lake City

Local tennis players will represent Montana at the Sectional Championships in Salt Lake City this next weekend. They will play teams from Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada and Colorado.

Ryan Maurier, former Redlands College tennis player and local tennis pro, captained a squad including local high school standouts now playing college tennis, Lander Jewett and Adam Strizich. Jewett is playing for Redlands. Strizich attends Seattle University and is also on the tennis team.

Joining the team is Abe Mikota a former Class A State singles champion standout player from Havre. The team was joined by current University of Montana playe BenDemarois of Missoula . This young team beat the Bozeman squad captained by Scott Potter, Bobcat Tennis Center Director. That team included MSU men's coach Mike Phillips and former Bobcat and Griz players, Kyle Wilson,Jason Swanson,Justin Hauck and Kevin Stayart.
