2009 Bruin basketball camps on tap

Once again this summer, Capital High boys basketball coach Guy Almquist will be running the Bruin basketball camps for boys entering grades 4-9 next fall. This camp has been very popular for young players interested in an introduction to Bruin basketball. Fundamentals are stressed with special emphasis on footwork, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding and shooting. The camp features contests, prizes and awards each day. Every player in camp will also receive a Bruin T-shirt.

Both camps are scheduled for July 6-9. Camp for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boys is scheduled from 9:30-12:30, while the seventh- eighth- and ninth-grade camp is from 1:30-5. All sessions will be held at Capital High School.

Helena volleyball camp to be held in June

Helena High volleyball coach Sheila Williams and other members of the HHS staff will be instructing a volleyball camp from June 15-18 at the Helena High gym. The morning session for grades 5-8 will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The afternoon session, held from 12:30-4 p.m., is for grades 9-12. Cost for those sessions is $70. Grades kindergarten through four participate in the evening session, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., for $30.

Former players and guest clinician Jackie Fuller, from Whitefish High School, will also help conducting the camp.

Charity Classic soliciting charities

The Green Meadow Charity Classic golf tournament is soliciting requests from local charities in order to select the 2009 recipients of the proceeds from this annual event to be held July 25-26.
