Area golfer completes hole-in-one trifecta

Doug Olson recorded a hole-in-one on the 13th hole at Bill Roberts Golf Course Sunday.

The nine iron shot on the 155-yard hole was witnessed by his wife Theresa, Cody Hoover and Jenny Hoover.

The hole-in-one completes a trifecta of all of the golf courses in the Helena area. Olson has recorded a hole-in-one at Bill Roberts Golf Course, Green Meadow Country Club and Fox Ridge Golf Courses.

Helena cycling team fares well at Bohart Bash

Helena's Montana Velo Cycling Team performed well at the recent Bohart Bash Mountain Bike Race in Bozeman.

The race was the second stop of the season-long Montana Off-Road Series.

MVCT junior development racers Atticus Proctor and Sean Kiely finished first and second in the junior male first-timers race and Keenan Gerhart took fourth in the male beginner's race.

In the women's beginner race, Michelle Richardson took top honors while Frank Gonzalez won the semi-pro/expert race in a sprint finish.

Teammates Geoff Proctor, Shane Mundt and Scott Herzig followed in sixth, 11th and 13th, respectively.

Montana Velo actively promotes junior cycling development in the Helena community with middle school and high school programs in the spring, summer and fall.

St. Peter's offering Fit to Play program

St. Peter's Rehabilitation is offering Fit to Play program for athletes ages nine to 14 years, their parents and coaches.

Fit to Play is a four-week core training program, which is designed to reduce the likelihood of injuries sustained by young athletes while improving athletic performance.

The program includes upper and lower body training, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and strength training.

Instructors include Christy Rusdal, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, and Tim Casey, a certified personal trainer.

Classes are taught for one hour at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 22 to August 14 at the

Hospital.

The program is open to middle school and high school athletes from all sports. Cost is $45 per student and a discount is offered to additional family members.
