No matter how many Frontier Conference champoinships or NAIA national titles the Carroll College football team wins, they still have a challenge in Butte.

The No. 1 Saints (10-0 overall, 9-0 Frontier Conference) got a big touchdown run from local boy Matt Ritter and a second-half surge on defense to rally back and beat archrival Montana Tech 10-6 on Saturday.

Carroll, which trailed 6-3 at the half, replaced freshman Dane Broadhead after he threw an interception in Tech's end zone, and Ritter came in to do what he does best: move his feet.

The Saints backup quarterback, who moved from the wide receiver spot when junior quarterback Gary Wagner went down early in the season, broke away from tackles and snaked his way across the field to score the winning touchdown on a 12-yard scramble with 11:41 left in the game.

The Carroll defense did the rest, stopping Tech's sophomore quarterback and Helena High product Matt Komac. He finished 15-of-35 passing for 136 yards while picking up 75 yards rushing on the ground.

Komac looked to former Bengals teammate Alex Grevas downfield, connecting with the senior nine times for 82 yards.

The Saints' sophomore running back John Camino led the squad with 71 yards rushing on 21 carries and converted on fourth down to keep Carroll's final drive alive.

Senior Travis Browne led the Saints' receiving corps with 83 yards on nine catches.

Carroll, who clinched the Frontier Conference champoinship with a 37-0 win over MSU-Northern last week, hosts Eastern Oregon University next for their final regular game of the season.
