Markus Naslund scored one of the New York Rangers' four goals in a wild third period, and Henrik Lundqvist made the lead stand up in a 5-4 comeback win over the New York Islanders on Monday night.

The Rangers held a 25-15 shots advantage through two periods but entered the third trailing 2-1. A hard and clean hit by Ryan Callahan on Islanders forward Trent Hunter that forced open a door at the scorer's table, and left Hunter down in pain, changed the momentum.

The Rangers turned the ensuing faceoff into Petr Prucha's second of the season nine seconds later. Michal Rozsival gave the Rangers their first lead with a sharp-angle goal at 2:08, but the Islanders needed only 27 seconds to tie it on Blake Comeau's second.

Naslund put the Rangers ahead for good at 7:12 with his team-leading 14th, snapping the team's longest losing streak of the season at three.

Mike Comrie scored for the Islanders with 18.7 seconds remaining -- the sixth goal of the period.

Canadiens 5, Panthers 2

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- Maxim Lapierre scored the final three goals of the game, leading the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday night for their NHL-best 3,000th regular-season win.

Alex Kovalev and Tomas Plekanec also scored for Montreal, which is 4-0-1 in its last five games. Carey Price stopped 25 shots for the Canadiens.

Michael Frolik and David Booth scored for the Panthers, who have lost three straight after tying a franchise record with seven wins in December.

Sharks 3, Stars 1

DALLAS (AP) -- Evgeni Nabokov stopped 28 shots to win his 20th game of the season, Ryane Clowe had a goal and an assist and the San Jose Sharks beat the Dallas Stars 3-1 Monday night.

Nabokov (20-3-3) became the second NHL goalie to post 20 wins. He fell just short of his third shutout of the season.

Matt Niskanen's goal with 5:03 left brought the Stars to 2-1.

The Stars went on the power play when Dan Boyle was called for a penalty with 3:52 left, but couldn't get a shot on net with the man advantage.

Jonathan Cheechoo scored at 15:10 of the first and Milan Michalek added a tally early in the third.

Clowe added an empty net goal to give the Sharks a 3-1 lead with 1:02 left.

Marty Turco stopped 16 shots for the Stars, who are 4-1-1 in their last six games. The Stars' goalie also stopped Patrick Marleau's penalty shot with 3:43 left.

Avalanche 5, Predators 1

DENVER (AP) -- Cody McLeod had the first two-goal game of his career and John-Michael Liles added a goal and an assist in the Colorado Avalanche's 5-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Monday night.

McLeod, who had only nine goals in 84 NHL games coming in, scored twice in the first period. Chris Stewart and David Jones also had goals for Colorado, winners of three straight.

Goaltender Peter Budaj stopped 25 shots. Budaj shut the Predators out 1-0 on Nov. 8.

Jason Arnott scored his 14th goal of the year for Nashville which lost for the second time in two nights.

Pekka Rinne faced 21 shots and stopped 16.

Flames 2, Wild 1

CALGARY (AP) -- Eric Nystrom scored a short-handed goal in the third period to lift the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Monday night.

Nystrom picked up a loose puck after Dustin Boyd's icing attempt from his own end was knocked out of the air by Wild defenseman Brett Burns.

Blue Jackets 2, Kings 0

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Rookie Steve Mason made 24 saves, Kris Russell scored during a power play in the second period and the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 on Monday night.

The 20-year-old Mason logged his fourth career shutout.

In a matchup of talented young goalies, the Kings' Jonathan Quick, 21, stopped 22 shots as he tried to shut out the Blue Jackets for the second time in a week.

Russell, a defenseman, scored late in the second period for the Blue Jackets' first goal in three games against the Kings this season.
