Townsend junior Jager Warner won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races while Delaware Hansen placed second in three different events to lead the Bulldogs at the Townsend Top 8 meet on Thursday.

The meet featured Class B teams from around the region.

"We did very well," said Townsend head coach Travis Rauh. "We don't keep team scores but our kids did very well and placed in several events."

None more than Hansen, who went 33-feet, 9-inches in the triple jump, 16-4 3/4 in the long jump and cleared 5 feet in the high jump -- her first time of the year.

Joining her on the girls side was juniors Kelsey Wickens, who placed third in the 100 with a time of 13.9 seconds and third in the 200 with a 29.11; Jordan Audet, who placed second in the 1,600 with a 5:46.4 and second in the 3,200 with 13:07.7; and Lynsie Williams, who was third in the triple jump with a 33-5.

Their 400 relay team also finished second with a time of 53.67

"We had one kind of shaky handoff that kind of tossed us," Rauh said.

On the boys side, Warner took the 1,600 in 4:43 and 3,200 in 10:25.6.

"And on a somewhat muddy dirt track to put in a 4:43 is a nice performance," Rauh said.

Shade Theriault also picked up an individual title with an 11.48 in the 100 while placing second in the 200 with a 24.17.

"Shade Theriault is one of the better sprinters in the state and Andy Newman is back and healthy," Rauh said.

Boone Helm placed third in the 300 hurdles with a 46.0 and Kyland Santos remains one of the state's top competitors in the field, finishing second in the shot put with a 47-1 and third in the disc with 146-1.

Townsend's 400 relay team finished third with a 46.11 while their long relay placed second in 3:45.1.

"Boys-wise, this is about as excited as I've been about a team in quite some time," Rauh said.

The Bulldogs have one more meet, the Stillwater Invitational in Billings this Saturday, before the District 5B meet in Bozeman on May 16.
