Townsend drops first game this year at state tourney

BOZEMAN -- The Townsend volleyball team dropped their first game of the year in the Class B volleyball tournament on Thursday.

After riding out Deer Lodge in five games, the Bulldogs dropped their second game of the evening 12-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-16 to Huntley Project in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Townsend had trouble stopping the Red Devils' Jessie Santy, who finished with a match-high 21 kills.

The Bulldogs were led offensively by Carrie Myers and Emily Watson. Both had 12 kills. Myers also tied with Alexa Audet and Becky Hunsaker with a team-high two aces apiece.

Audet had 20 assists while Watson had 13. Leading Townsend on defense was Jessica Sagissor with five blocks and Becky Moudree with 27 digs.

Townsend will play today at 4 p.m. against the winner of the Loyola Sacred Heart and Fairfield match.
