SALT LAKE CITY - Carroll College sophomore Jamie Greene finished fifth at the Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships at Sugar House Park on Friday, earning her all-conference honors.
Greene's time of 20 minutes, 27.4 seconds was less than 90 seconds behind individual champion Amber Watson of Rocky Mountain College. Watson covered the 5-kilometer course in 19:11.7 to win the race by almost a minute over Amanda Theobald of Westminster College (20:08.4).
"She had one of the best competitive races of her career," Carroll coach Bill Ballinger said of the sophomore from Draper, Utah.
Lewis-Clark State won the team title after placing six runners in the top ten, led by Kyli Astle's third-place finish. Lewis-Clark (33 points) was followed by Great Falls (69), Carroll (78), Rocky Mountain (85) and Westminster (108).
The top three individuals qualify to compete at the NAIA national championships later this month.
On the men's side, junior Sean Huey led a Lewis-Clark sweep of the top five places.
Huey covered the 8-kilometer course in 27:08.3, beating teammate Eric Tuwei by 20 seconds. Jake Miller was third at 27:30.6.
Taylor Gregory led the Carroll men, finishing 15th in 28:54.0 Carroll freshman Caleb Dietz was close behind in 17th at 29:05.5
"Taylor and Caleb had good, solid race," Ballinger said. "Taylor's goal was to go to nationals, and he came up a little short there."
LSCS easily won the team title with 15 points, followed by Rocky Mountain (60), Great Falls (67), Carroll (101) and Westminster (145).
